Local-Multiplayer battle arena game
Animation & Game
Mage’s Football League 2020, or MFL for short, is a local multiplayer battle arena game for four players.
The players descend into an arena as powerful mages and fight for the possession of a relic, to score points on the enemy team, to ultimately win the game.
The game plays in a wealthy medieval fantasy city and the game that is played is supposed to be this world’s big sport.
While in the arena, players constantly have to choose between offensive and defensive plays, since getting hit while holding the relic causes your team’s shield to take damage and that regenerates very slowly.
Not only that but casting the correct spells at the right time is crucial to winning games.
The goal of the game is to emphasize team play and strategic use of resources. While designing the spells I paid extra attention as to what spells interact with which ones because when too many spells don’t hit the intended target, it quickly is perceived as “random”.
