Formal Application via Uni Assist
The application procedure for the BA Animation & Game at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt consists of a formal application and an artistic entrance examination which you apply for separately.
The formal application includes documentation of your educational level. It must be submitted through UNI ASSIST, the University Application Service for International Students. Deadline: 15.04.2019
For the artistic entrance examination you need to submit a digital portfolio consisting of 3 work samples related to the field of study. The portfolio must be sent to Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.
In order to study Animation & Game you will need a valid University Entrance Certificate. If you obtain your University Entrance Certificate only after the application deadline, you must submit a certification of enrollment from your school and the last two school reports. If you do not have a University Entrance Certificate at all and do not expect to obtain it in the year of your application, you may apply for admission based on outstanding artistic aptitude. As the Animation & Game Programme is mainly carried out in English language, English language proficiency is mandatory and must be given proof of through a B2 Certificate or through an English grade better than average on your school report.
As part of your application you must submit a digital portfolio consisting of 3 work samples. This could be anything related to the field of animations and games, such as: comic strips, flip books, classic or 3-D animations, storyboards, character or concept art, game prototypes, board game concepts, level designs, 3-D models/graphics or physical models.
The Animation & Game Entrance Examination consists of two stages: a Portfolio Examination and a Presence Examination. During the Portfolio Examination the Examiners Board will assess your work samples. If you pass the Portfolio Examination you will receive an invitation for the Presence Examination. The Presence Examination is carried out in the Rooms of the Animation & Game Department from 24.06.-28.06.2019. It consists of practical and creative tasks and an interview with the Examiners Board. If you live outside of Germany permanently or temporarily (for education or work reasons) and are unable to travel to Germany for the Presence Examination, you may apply for Distance Examination. Please address your reasoned request to the Chairperson of the Animation & Game Entrance Examination Board under: firstname.lastname@example.org Please note that a holiday trip is not an acceptable reason to qualify for Distance Examination.
