Application with a German University Entrance Certificate
Application Period: 01.03. – 01.06.2017
For your application you will need an authentified copy of your University Entrance Certificate (HZB) valid in Hessen. If you receive your University Entrance Certificate HZB only after the application deadline, you must submit a certification of enrollment from your school and the last two school reports. If you do not have a University Entrance Certificate at all and do not expect to obtain it in the year of your application, you may apply for admission based on outstanding artistic aptitude. Successful proof of outstanding artistic aptitude in the Entrance Examination qualifies for enrollment in the Animation & Game Programme without University Entrance Certificate.
Moreover you must give proof of English language proficiency through a B2 Certificate or through an English grade better than average on your school report.
As part of your application you must submit a digital portfolio consisting of 3 work samples. This could be anything related to the field of animations and games, such as: comic strips, flip book animations, classic or 3-D animations, storyboards, character or concept art, game prototypes, board game concepts, level designs, 3-D models/graphics or physical models.
Artistic Entrance Examination
The Animation & Game Entrance Examination consists of two stages: a Portfolio Examination and a Presence Examination. During the Portfolio Examination the Examiners Board will assess your work samples. If you pass the Portfolio Examination you will receive an invitation for the Presence Examination. The Presence Examination is carried out in the Rooms of the Animation & Game Department. It consists of practical and creative tasks and an interview with the Examiners Board. Application Procedure in two Steps
Step 1: Online RegistrationStep 2: Submission of your Application
In order to apply for the BA Animation & Game Programme first of all you need to register on the website of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. At the end of the online registration procedure you will receive an application number. Moreover you are requested to print out, fill in and sign an application form.
Submit your signed application form together with your complete application documents and your digital portfolio to the Student Service Center (SSC) of Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. Applications can be submitted only once a year; the programme starts each year in the Winter Semester. Application deadline for 2017 is: 01.06.2017.
